Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist and musician. She was the first woman of her generation to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar artist. She's the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was born in London in 1982, and the first few years of her life she was split between London New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut at just thirteen years of age. She graduated in 1999 from her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording career. She has performed with her father on stage for several years. In 1998 she released her first single album Anourag. It was followed by Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. Since she's performed at every major stage in the world, her stage career is extensive. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is an illustrated biography that pays special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the future. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her time between London Delhi. When she moved to California she graduated from her high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player in front of an audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Anoushka gained a lot of knowledge by traveling the world together with her father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship in the Asian Arts.
